Mayor honors our President and Joan Tilley
 Usk’s Mayor Cllr Alec Leathwood presented Usk Athletic Club’s President Gerald Kear and his sister Joan Tilley with certificates in recognition of their contributions to the Usk Cricket Club at a ceremony in the Sessions House on the evening of Wednesday 6th April.
Both Gerald and Joan have been active members since the Club started up again after the second World War in 1946. Gerald has held amongst every position in the Cricket section and Joan had led the tea ladies and helped run the bar for 65 years.
In presenting the awards to 7 other residents as well, the Mayor said “ Tthe town of Usk is not just a very pretty market town, but also a real community because of the extraordinary efforts of so many people whose voluntary work in the town has improved the lives of others.” Cllr Leathwood added “ I was concerned that this voluntary work had never been formerly recognised and I am delighted that the Council had now decided to present these awards on an annual basis.”
The Mayor said that he was extremely proud of the town and its people and that it was a real honour and a privilege to be able to make these presentations on behalf of the Council.
